1912 Oldsmobile Defender Series 40 Navigation
This 1912 Oldsmobile Defender Touring was acquired by its most recent owner in 2011 and was subsequently restored with the working being completed in 2013. After the restoration, it participated on tours and in concours events, including appearing at the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance in 2014.
This Oldsmobile is finished in two-tone grey livery with dark red wheels and pinstripes. The interior is done in button-tufted oxblood red leather with period-correct pyramid aluminum floorboards and original instruments and controls. There is highly polished nickel and brass details, and a cast aluminum cowl. It has a five-passenger touring bodystyle and is powered by a 298 cubic-inch, T-head engine offering 35 horsepower.
The differences between the Defender and its larger Autocrat sibling are the Defender's smaller chassis, faired-in electric cowl lamps, and the glazed 'skylight' cowl vent. The slash-cut louvers on the hood and doors are a signature feature shared across the Oldsmobile line.By Daniel Vaughan | Jun 2020
