1973 Mercury Montego GT Hardtop Fastback

This Mercury was built in the first week of production for the 1973 model year on 8-8-1972. It was shipped to Herman Larsen Mercury in Lebanon, Oregon where it served as a dealer demo for four months. Jerry Larsen, the owner of the dealership, liked it so much he drove it 5,000 miles before selling it as a demo at the dealership. The first owner bought the car in March of 1973 and then fell behind on his payments. The car was repossessed in October of 1974. The second owner had it for four years before selling it. The third owner kept it in his family from 1978 to 2000 when its current owner purchased it from them. At the time Auto Trader was just beginning to put their local trader magazines online nationwide. After a search, the car was found and listed for $850. The individual flew out to Portland 2 days later, pickup up the car, and had it shipped to Michigan. The car was only about 40 miles from the dealership where it was originally sold. The car had 95,000 miles on it but was rust free. A restoration soon commenced by the new owner and was completed in 2004.
