1972 Jensen Interceptor Navigation
In 2007 this 1972 Jensen Interceptor Coupe was brought to the Monterey Sports & Classic Car Auction presented by RM Auctions, where it had an estimated value of 35,000-$45,000. The lot was offered without reserve. The car is powered by a V8 Chrysler engine that displaces 383 cubic inches and is capable of producing 330 horsepower. There is a Torque-Flite three-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel disc brakes.
In 1950 Jensen introduced their Interceptor with a second generation following in 1966. The second generation Interceptor featured a Chrysler 383 cubic-inch V8 engine and four-wheel disc brakes, which greatly improved the vehicle's performance. The top speed was around 140 mph, and zero-to-sixty took just over seven seconds.
During the years 1971 through 1976, only 4,255 Interceptors were created and sent to the US, with 628 being coupes. Part of the slow-down in sales was due to the oil crisis, mismanagement, and labor disputes which would ultimately lead to Jensen's demise in 1976.
This example is finished in factory maroon with a black vinyl top. The interior features tan leather seats and matching wool carpets. This is a one-owner car that has traveled just 38,000 miles since new. At the auction, the car was sold for $27,500, including the buyer's premium.By Daniel Vaughan | Dec 2007
