This Impala Super Sport was built in St. Louis, Missouri, and delivered with the RPO 240 Super Sport Option, which included Super Sport trim, special wheel covers, power steering, and brakes, heavy-duty shocks and springs, and sintered brake linings amongst other performance items.
The F.H. code 348 cubic inch Turbo-Fire V8 produced 350 horsepower. This package included three 2 barrel carburetors, a high-lift solid lifter camshaft, and an 11.25:1 compression ratio. Additional powertrain options included a Borg-Warner T-10 four-speed transmission and a 3.70:1 positraction rear axle.
The Super Sport option was not available until the spring of 1961, and only 39 convertibles were built. Of those, only five came with the 350 horsepower option.
