This 1986 Merkur was originally built with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine. It was driven by Lyn St. James in 1986 and 1987. In 1988 it was converted to a 358 cubic inch V8 which produced 650 horsepower. In the 1988 Daytona 24 Hours, it was driven by Scott Pruett, Pete Halsmer, and Paul Miller to an IMSA GTO class victory.
