1956 Alfa Romeo 1900 SS Coupe

Touring began building a five-window Berlinetta on 1900 underpinnings beginning in 1951. A three-window coupe resting on Corto, or short, 1900 chassis, followed in 1953. Using its famed 'Superleggera' (Italian for 'Superlight') method of construction, it utilized small-diameter steel tubes for the structural framework and clothed with thin alloy body panels. A total of 854 examples were built and it is estimated to approximately 200 examples remained in existence.

This particular Alfa Romeo 1900C Super Sprint Coupe By Touring is one of 248 constructed in 1956. It wears a two-tone grey and silver finish with a red leather interior. It is currently powered by a later iron-block 2.0-liter engine fitted with dual Weber carburetors. There is a five-speed synchromesh transmission operated via a floor shifter. It has a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel, Borrani wire wheels, and Marchal driving lights.
