1929 Auburn 8-90 Navigation
The Auburn marque was started in Auburn, Indiana, by Charles Eckhart around 1900. E.L. Cord became general manager of Auburn in 1923. In 1926 Cord purchased the Duesenberg Corporation and used it to produce high-priced luxury and performance automobiles. under one umbrella in 1929, E.L. Cord controlled Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg. Auburn's of the late 1920s were typically cars that were purchased by the wealthy. Sadly, in 1929 the Great Depression hit. It is believed that only 150 Auburn 8-90's were sold.
This car is powered by a 246 cubic-inch Lycoming inline eight with a three-speed manual transmission. Sitting on a 125-inch wheelbase, the 93-horsepower car ran strong, looked elegant, and had features that appealed to the upper class of the country. By the way, the starting price for the Auburn 8-90 in 1929 was under $2,000.
