1979 Lotus Esprit S2 Coupe

Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and launched in October 1975 at the Paris Motor Show, the Esprit was lauded for its wedge, Italian exterior styling, an equally inviting interior, and its handling. In its numerous incarnations, it remained in production from 1976 to 2004. It features a fiberglass body on a steel backbone chassis with the engine mounted longitudinally behind the cockpit. In this version, power comes from the 1,973cc Lotus 907 dual overhead camshaft, normally aspirated, 4-cylinder engine that produces 140 horsepower in US/Federal trim.

This example is one of only 1,061 S2s produced between 1978 and 1981. The current owner executed a significant cosmetic restoration in 2017 and the car now represents the original OEM specifications and design intent. Adding to the originality is the Speed line spare with Dunlop rubber and the engine cover mounted jack and tool kit.
