1935 Miller Ford Indy Car Chassis

With the arrival of new regulations, 'two-man cars,' as they were called, ran in the Indianapolis 500 between the years of 1930 and 1937. New cars were built, and older single-seat cars were converted to accommodate the driver and riding mechanic. This Miller-Ford two-man roadster was driven by Ted Horn in the 1935 Indianapolis 500, although the V-8 Rod-powered Miller failed to finish the race due to steering box failure. The same car returned to Indy twelve years later in 1947 as the Grancor V-8 Special owned by Anthony Granatelli. The car was involved in a serious crash, ending all competition for the Granatelli team. Granatelli owned four Miller-Fords, and he would often change parts around among his cars, which has resulted in much confusion for today's Miller restorers! Its current owner acquired the car in 2019, still bearing the original blue livery and number 39 as raced by the Granatellis in 1946. It has now been carefully preserved and has only been mechanically restored.
