1929 Bugatti Type 35B Grand Prix Racer

This Bugatti Type 35B was a works vehicle that raced in 1929 by William Grover-Williams in the French Grand Prix. When Louis Chiron raced the car in the Spanish Grand Prix, it was done under his own ownership. It was sold in the early 1930s to a German individual who used it as a road-going vehicle. After World War II, the car was sold to the United States and entered ownership on two occasions before it joined the Lawrence Falvey collection of Detroit, Michigan. It remained in Mr. Falvey's care until he passed away in 1985. The car was given a comprehensive restoration commissioned by his family and was then shown at the Pebble Beach and Meadow Brook concours in 1989. The car remained in the care of the Falvey family until 2000 when it was acquired by Chris Drake. While in Mr. Drake's care, the car received another restoration. In 2006, the car was sold to a U.S.-based individual and in 2021, the car was sold at auction.
