1965 Ferrari 275 GTB Berlinetta Speciale

In 1964, Pininfarina was asked by Ferrari to design a new Berlinetta body for their new 275 chassis that was to replace the 250 GT Lusso. The prototype 275 GTB (chassis 6437) was retained by Pininfarina and shown at many of the European auto salons. It was also used by Battista Pininfarina as his personal automobile. While all the production 275 GTBs were built by Scaglietti and wear badges proclaiming 'Designo Pininfarina,' this is the only 275 GTB that was built by Pininfarina. The car differs in many ways and none of the body panels are the same as the Scaglietti cars. It also has a 6-carburetor engine that requires a distinctive bubble in the hood to allow for clearance. The grill opening is larger and wider than the short-nose Scaglietti cars, and the bumpers are more discrete; the driving lamps are more prominent, and the frameless covered headlamps conceal special Venturi lenses to prevent fogging.
