1964 Ferrari 250 GTO Navigation
Between 1962 and 1963, Ferrari built a total of 33 of the now world-famous GTOs. All but one featured the classic GTO body design, with the one exception being a GTO entered by Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team with a special body similar to the 330 LMB GT/Prototype, now referred to as the 250 GTO LMB. Following the introduction of the mid-engine 250 LM, Ferrari built three new Series 2 GTOs fitted with a Pininfarina-styled body that brought the total production of the 250 GTO to 36.
This Series 2 GTO was the only GTO raced as a 'works' entry, and during its career was driven by six winning Formula One drivers including the 1964 World Champion, John Surtees, and the 1961 World Champion, Phil Hill. After retiring from competition, it was acquired in 1972 by Pierre Bardinon for his Mas du Clos collection and was Bardinon's favorite car in that collection. The car was acquired by its current owner in 2014 and has been recently restored for its debut at 2021 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
