1977 Maserati Merak Navigation
Morris Albert Kaiserman acquired this Maserati Merak SS on July 10th of 1978 at Newport Imports of Newport Beach California. As an SS, this car weighs 110 pounds less than the 'regular' Merak and its 2,965cc DOHC V6 engine is fitted with three carburetors and delivers 217 bhp at 6,000 RPM - an additional 30 horsepower. This car also has the Bora dashboard.
Mr. Morris Albert Kaiserman drove the car approximately 3,000 miles a year before parting with it on July 31st of 1979. It was acquired by the previous owner's uncle and held onto it until passing ownership to his nephew in 2018. While in the previous owner's care, the car remained in California, only covering 11,000 over the last four decades.
In 2016, the car was sent to Bobileff Motorcars where the entire engine was refreshed with new pistons and upgraded stainless steel valves. A new clutch was fitted and several other major systems received overhauls. The cost of the work totaled well over $20,000.
Since new, this Merak has been driven 12,840 miles. Over the past three years, an additional $17,000 was spent on maintenance work, including rebuilding the carburetors, rebuilding the distributor, overhauling the brake system, refurbishing the A/C system, new Michelin XWX tires installed, new battery, rebuilding the alternator, and cooling system refurbishment.By Daniel Vaughan | Oct 2021
