1967 Plymouth Belvedere II

The Belvedere II was used by Plymouth in the just-announced-for-1967 NHRA Super Stock class. 55 examples were built at the Lynch Road plant for the program, and unlike earlier versions, no lightweight body parts were selected, as Chrysler did not want to race 'heads-up' with the successful 1965 models. Both the Dodge Coronets and Belvedere IIs were all-steel, devoid of sound deadener, undercoating, radio or heater, and the only major visual body change was to add a hood scoop.

The 426 Hemi engine used a special A102 Street Hemi intake with an Arlen Vanke modified plenum. It continued to use twin inline Carter carburetors but with special jetting, and a competition Prestolite transistorized ignition kept the engine sparked. The battery was installed in the trunk for better weight distribution.

Rules stated that Plymouth would have to document and build a minimum of 50 examples o satisfy NHRAs Super Stock homologation requirements.

This car is finished in white with a black vinyl bench-seat interior. It rides on painted steel wheels with pie-pan hubcaps and 10-inch front drum brakes that provided the stopping power. Currently, it wears BF Goodrich blackwall tires. The odometer currently shows 395 miles.
