1993 Jaguar XJ220

The Jaguar XJ220, at one time, held the distinction of being the world's fastest production automobile. Fewer than 300 examples were built from 1992 through 1994 before the program was canceled in the wake of the collapse of the supercar market.

Powering the XJ220 was an all-alloy turbocharged V6 developed from Austin-Rover's Group B rally car. Dubbed the JV6, the engine's diminutive volume and size allowed it to reside nearly amidship. Along with aerodynamic aluminum coachwork penned by Jaguar Design's Keith Helfet, it was named the XJ220 in reference to its projected top speed of 220 mph. This figure was nearly achieved in a time trial on the high-bank test track in Nardo, Italy.

This particular example was completed in late September of 1993 and finished in Spa Silver with a Smoke Gray interior. Reportedly imported and federalized by an enthusiast residing in Connecticut, the XJ220 was later sold into a prominent collection of European sports cars. By 2004 it was owned by a Florida-based enthusiast, and upon servicing a year later, the odometer displayed 4,654 kilometers. By mid-2008, the car was in the care of Jim Taylor of New York who retained it through 2009, at which point it entered a large private collection.

The current owner acquired the car in 2020. Currently, the car has 6,837 kilometers on the odometer.
