1948 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Cabriolet

The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 was introduced in 1938 and built through 1952, spanning two radically different eras, from the pre-World War II time of large, elegant, exclusive, and hand-built models to the more modern and accessible sports cars that would emerge following the world conflict.

The straight-six cylinder engine endowed the 6C 2500 with being the company's first road-going model to reach 100 mph. The Sport configuration delivered 95 brake horsepower and was clothed with lightweight bodywork.

The 6C 2500 retained the traditional ladder frame and was equipped with the 6C 2300's independent sprung suspension. Coachwork was from Touring, Bertone, Zagato, and Pinin Farina.

This particular 6C 2500 Sport Cabriolet wears coachwork by Pinin Farina. The chassis was completed on October 10th, 1946, and the bodywork was ready for delivery on May 30th, 1947. This export model was sent to Argentina and sold via that nation's cosmopolitan capital city of Buenos Aires. The subsequent history is not known, but at some point, it received a restoration where it received its present blue paint scheme. The finely detailed cabin features a 'banjo' steering wheel, a column shifter for three-speed manual transmission, wood trim, and dark red leather upholstery. The blue cabriolet top stows beneath a dark red top boot cover when not in use. Located at all four corners are chromed wire knock-off wheels with Alfa Romeo-branded two-ear 'spinners.' A spare, wire wheel is stored in the trunk.

Between 2017 and 2020, the car received $176,000 in mechanical service, including an overhaul of the engine and transmission.
