1958 Chevrolet Bel Air Impala Sport Convertible

The Chevy Impala was based on the Bel Air, but with a Cadillac-inspired chrome grille courtesy of stylist Harley Earl. On either side of the grille were twin pairs of dual headlights, and chrome moldings traversed nearly the entire length of the body side. Mock exhaust ports were located in the lower rear quarter panels along with numerous simulated vents. The interior featured polychrome striped vinyl and anodized aluminum trim. 1958 Impalas rested on a new X-frame and employed a coil-sprung suspension. A re-purposed Chevrolet truck motor provided the motivation. The 348 cubic-inch 'Turbo Thrust' V8 engine could be fed by one of three optional carburetor configurations.

This Impala Convertible was acquired by its current owner in October 2009 from a private collection in California. Since then, it has received a complete restoration and finished in Onyx Black paintwork. There are dual antennas, factory 'spinner' hubs wrapped in wide whitewall tires, and a rear continental kit. There is a power convertible top, anodized aluminum trim, and tri-tone blue interior. Amenities include a dash clock, two-tone steering wheel, heater, and Wonder Bar push-button radio.
