1908 Franklin Model G Navigation
This 1908 Franklin Model G Tourer is equipped with an air-cooled 143 cubic-inch inline-four cylinder engine. It bears the dealer medallion of C.W. Newton of Salt Lake City, Utah, and has a known history since the 1950s. It has recently received a thorough three-year restoration with the engine being rebuilt by Tom Rasmussen of Spring Lake Park, Minnesota. The engine dates from 1910 and it is believed that it was one of many that were replaced by the factory as a result of crankcase metallurgical problems. Kenneth Weaver Magnetos restored the magneto, and the brass lights and accouterments were restored by Rick Britten. The nickel plating work was done by Bright Works, Inc. The upholstery and top were crafted by Daryl Schwartz and his Amish craftsmen. The car was pained with BASF Glasurit 55, spectrographically matched to the original color.
