1961 Borgward Isabella Navigation
Bremen, Germany-based Carl F. W. Borgward GmbH produced a series of high-quality cars, the Isabella series, from June 1954 through 1962. The coupe was one of five body styles, a sedan, cabriolet, station wagon, and pickup. The motor was a 1,493cc four-cylinder with 75 horsepower, which offered enough to prove attractive to formula racecar manufacturers including Cooper Cars.
Unfortunately, Borgward didn't develop a four-door sedan (only the two-door four-seater saloon), so they never had an entry into the largest market segment and thus could not compete with Ford or Opel.
