1928 Pierce-Arrow Model 81 Convertible Coupe

When this Pierce-Arrow Model 81 was brought to auction in Hershey, PA in 2021, it represented the first time it was ever offered publicly for sale. The car has had only two owners since 1928, with its current caretakers purchasing it in 1972 and having cared for it for 49 years. At the time of purchase, the car was in well-maintained original condition and was immediately used and driven by the new owner. It would be used on many Glidden Tours, along with many other automotive shows and activities. The Pierce-Arrow underwent a comprehensive restoration that was started about 15 years ago. The engine was rebuilt by the late Hugh Mearns of West Virginia, and various portions of the restoration were performed by Al Prueitt and Sons in 2019.

The car is currently finished with a two-tone grey exterior, with a black canvas convertible top. Exterior features include a period-correct Bright Bumper, 'Archer' radiator mascot, passenger-side golf club door, and rear-mounted spare. The car rides on painted wood-spoke wheels with red pinstriping. The interior is trimmed in red leather with rich woodwork accents throughout.
