1952 Lincoln Capri Convertible

The Lincoln Capri Special Custom Convertible was Ford Motor Company's most expensive passenger car in 1952. At $4,025 before options, just 1,191 were produced, including this car which was rescued from a salvage yard in Cleveland, Ohio. Lincoln introduced a totally new overhead valve engine offering 160 horsepower as well as an all-new chassis which featured the domestic industry's first ball joint-mounted spindles eliminating kingpins and the accompanying lubrication requirements. Lincoln was the Mobilgas Economy Run Sweepstakes Winner in its class for 1952. Late in the year (with 1953 models), Lincoln captured the top four places in the III Carrera Panamerican Race held in Mexico; a feat it duplicated in the 1953 race. This firmly cemented the performance reputation of the Lincoln V-8 engine.
