1967 Toyota Sports 800 Navigation
The Sports 800 was Toyota's first-ever production sports car, debuting at the 1962 Tokyo Auto Show. First released in 1965 with an aerodynamic nose and covered headlights, it lays claim to the first production automobile with a removable targa roof. Based on the Publica sedan, it is described as light, nimble, and well-balanced. It is powered by a high-revving 44hp 790cc 2-cylinder air-cooled engine capable of speeds in excess of 100mph. In 1967 Toyota brought 41 Sports 800's to the United States for test marketing. Production continued through 1969. This is a rare left-hand drive example which was purchased by the Brinker family in 2014.
