Lincoln introduced its new Continental in October of 1955 at the Paris Salon. Its elegant styling had been crafted by Gordon Buehrig, William Clay Ford and John Reinhart and beneath its graceful bonnet was a 300 horsepower overhead valve engine backed by an automatic transmission. The list of standard equipment included power brakes, steering and front seat, along with a heater, whitewall tires, and a radio. Its exclusivity was guaranteed by its staggering $10,000 price tag, easily eclipsing nearly every other vehicle on the market. Despite its price, Lincoln lost money on each example.

This particular example, optioned with air conditioning, is finished in black with a red and white leather interior. It was given a restoration between 1995 and 1997. More recently, it was given over $2,000 in mechanical service and cosmetic detailing.
