1917 Packard Twin-Six Navigation
The original owner of this 1917 Packard Twin-Six 2-25 Seven Passenger Touring was a Mr. Martin P. Rice of Schenectady, north of Albany, New York. The car remained with Mr. Rice for seven years before it was acquired by James Tiffany of Delanson in New York, who kept it until 1970. The next owner was Ted Hutchinson of Athol, Massachusetts who sold it in October 1976 to its current owner, Howard Schaevitz.
Mr. Schaevitz treated the car to a sympathetic refurbishment which included stripping the body back to bare metal and repainting its bodywork in blue, black for the fenders, and cream for the coachlines. The interior was retrimmed also at that same time and entrusted to Leif Drexler.
This Packard was shown on rare occasions with its most recent being in 2013 at the Auburn Heights Invitational in Delaware.
The engine is a 424 cubic-inch side-valve V-12 unit with a single carburetor and delivers 88 horsepower at 2,600 RPM. There is a three-speed transaxle and rear mechanical brakes.By Daniel Vaughan | Apr 2022
