This 1933 Ford Model 40 Coupe is powered by a 221 cubic-inch V8 engine paired with a three-speed sliding transmission. While most of the affordable American car industry preferred straight-six or inline four-cylinder engines, Henry Ford trumped his competition with the introduction of his V-8 in 1932. Prices for the V-8 were marginally different from the previous smaller powerplants but significantly less than the 96 V8 engined models from Cadillac.
