1964 Shelby Cobra 289 Roadster

Chassis number CSX 2247 was billed to Shelby Amerian on November 20th of 1963. Two weeks later, it was shipped to Los Angeles aboard the SS Loch Gowan. After completion, the Cobra wore a Bright Blue exterior over red, and fitted with Class A accessories which included a luggage rack, aluminum rocker covers, a radio with antenna, five chrome wheels, and WSW tires. It was invoiced to Coventry Motors in Walnut Creek, California on February 12th of 1964. That same month, it was purchased for $6,250 by its first owner, Andrew Wortman of Santa Monica, California. By the 1970s, it was owned by Don Price of California, and by this point in history, the car had received modifications for Solo I competition including a full roll bar, side pipes, and fender flares to accommodate wide Ansen slotted wheels. During a Solo I run in June 1973, the car sustained slight damage to its right side.

Mr. Price sold the Cobra in April of 1974 to Bob Schiro Motors, and it would reside in the Schiro family for the next four decades. Don Davis of Texas purchased it in 2020. Shortly thereafter, it was sent to Don Dickenson for a full restoration. The car was stripped down to bare metal and rebuilt. It currently wears its original color combination of Bright Blue over red. After the work was completed early in the spring of 2021, Mr. Davis sold the vehicle to its current owner later that same year in June.
