This 1956 Porsche 356 A Super Coupe was completed in July of 1956 and sold new via Glockler Porsche, the Frankfurt-based Porsche-Volkswagen dealer. It was fitted with the optional 75 horsepower, 1,582cc Type 616/2 overhead valve air-cooled flat 4-cylinder engine breathing through Twin Solex 40 PICB carburetors and delivering 75 horsepower at 5,000 RPM. It wore a color scheme of Aquamarine Metallic over gray leather.
The Porsche remained in Germany through 1958 and was subsequently exported to the United States, eventually making its way to the Mid-Atlantic region.
The Porsche is currently in time-weathered condition although it received a mechanical recommissioning by its previous Virginia-based owner. The car retains its original leather upholstery, properly date-coded fuel tank, numbered body panels, the 1600 Super engine, and a period Telefunken radio.By Daniel Vaughan | May 2022
