The Ruf Turbo R Limited was introduced in the late 1990s and featured a 490 horsepower flat-six engine, a modified suspension, improved brakes, enhanced cosmetics, a RUF-designed body, five-spoke alloy wheels, and an integrated roll cage. Zero-to-Two Hundred km/h was accomplished in 11.8 seconds on its way to a top speed in excess of 200 mph. At the time, the Turbo R was among the fastest road-going automobiles of its day.
In 2016, RUF announced a tribute model to the original Turbo R, which they called the Turbo R Limited. These exclusive vehicles were built on new, unused tubs that had been purchased from Porsche in 1998 and put aside for future development. Built on the last generation of air-cooled Porsches yet benefitting from nearly two decades of technological progress, the 911 Turbo R Limited offered the best in performance, refinement, and safety.
This RUF Turbo R Limited is the only example produced in Riviera Blue and was optioned with all-wheel drive, a lightweight interior with carbon fiber bucket seats, a unique RUF-specific sound system, and carbon-ceramic disc brakes. The wheels were given a bespoke Titanium Grey finish, and the brake calipers were finished in Riviera Blue livery. The interior features black leather upholstery with Pepita cloth-seat centers and contrasting blue stitching, seat belts, door pulls, logos, and a tachometer.
The 3,600cc single overhead camshaft flat six-cylinder engine is equipped with a Bosch Motronic Electronic Multi-Point Fuel Injection system and twin KKK turbochargers and delivers 625 horsepower at 6,800 RPM. It has a six-speed manual transaxle, carbon ceramic disc brakes, and an independent coil spring suspension.
This Turbo R Limited has had just two private owners from new. Currently, the odometer displays just over 1,500 km (approximately 932 miles).By Daniel Vaughan | May 2022
