1962 BMW 700 Convertible

This car was purchased, sight unseen, and proved to be a challenge right from the start. It arrived as a rusty mess and should have probably found its way to the junkyard. The owner, though, was determined to have it restored. BMW, in a rush to get the 700 to market, had failed to use any rust preventative in the layered monocoque floor pans. The result was a car, that dealers privately joked, rusted on the showroom floor. Parts were scarce and difficult to locate. Progress was slow on the restoration, as the owner was told multiple times, 'No one restores a 700.' A great deal of effort by several very skilled folks resulted in a beautifully restored labor of love.
