1958 Jaguar Tojeiro D-Type Roadster

  • Chassis Number: TAD 1/58
This car was the third Tojeiro Jaguar produced. It was built in 1957 for John Ogier, who loaned it to David Murray at Ecurie Ecosse. The car debuted at Silverstone in July, 1958 being driven by Ivor Bueb. It was raced for several years at Ecosse and has been driven by the likes of Flockhart, Sanderson, Bueb, Ireland and once by Jimmy Clark. In December, 1959, the car was sent to Tony Maggs in South Africa. It returned to England in 1960 and was used by John Coundley in the filming of the movie 'The Green Helmet.' Later in 1960, it was purchased by David Lewis and mostly used in sprints and hill climbs. Sadly, his wife Vivienne was killed at the Brighton Speed Trials in 1963. The wreck was sold to Paul Emery. In the mid 1970's Gilbert Dickson bought the car and had it restored by Maurice Gomm. It was restored again in 1993.

The current owners purchased the car in 1993. Since then it has undergone a full racing restoration.

The body was built by Maurice Gomm of KP engineering to a design penned by Cavendish Morton.
