1930 Bugatti Type 46 Convertible Coupe

The factory records for this Type 46 are unfortunately scanty. Accounts show that the model was ordered by and delivered to the Parisian Bugatti agent, Larrouse, in 1930, but nothing is known about the car's initial owner. Then in 1937, it was reportedly purchased by Panos Harokopos, who was later briefly married to Greek actress Melina Mercouri. The next owner, Kriton Kangas, bought the car in 1940, but it seems he never drove it, preferring to store it in a private garage for safekeeping. Mr. Kangas eventually put the Type 46 up for sale in 1962, but interestingly, it was not until much later, in 1999, that someone finally made him an offer. That year, American Gleen Mounger followed up on the 37-year-old advertisement. Successfully obtaining the vehicle, Mr. Mounger had it brought to the United States. Ken McBride acquired it before it entered the Mullin Collection in July 2001.
