1947 Packard Custom Super Clipper Eight Standard Wheelbase Sedan

Despite the demand for new cars, Packard's production following World War II was quite dismal. The shortage and severe government allocations of critical parts and materials kept numbers down. While Packard enjoyed good relations with its workforce, troubles with labor unions at several suppliers caused Packard and most of the industry to face numerous shutdowns. The 1947 models were largely carryover as the first new postwar Packard arrived for the 1948 model year. The Super Clipper Eights were considered 'Senior' Packards, thus riding on a 127-inch wheelbase with power from Packard's largest 356 cubic-inch inline eight-cylinder engine. The Super Clipper Eight Touring Sedan was the most popular in the series with 4,802 units produced during the 1947 model year.
