1939 Oldsmobile L Series 80 Navigation
Oldsmobile was founded on August 21, 1897, in Lansing, Michigan by Ransom Eli Olds. After a squabble with shareholders of the company, he left Oldsmobile and established REO. No longer able to use the name Oldsmobile, he cleverly used his initials to name the new concern. Oldsmobile became part of General Motors in 1908. The company was known for pioneering many things - chrome plating in 1926, the Hydramatic automatic transmission in 1940, the Rocket V-8 in 1949, and the front-wheel drive Toronado in 1966; among them.
1939 was the only year Olds used the 80 Series designation. This car is one of only 1,564 two-door sedans (Series L 80) produced. It's highly optioned including a super deluxe ratio with push buttons, dual defroster, deluxe heater, electric clock, dual backup lights, fog lights, fender marker lights, trunk light, wheel trim rings, and special-order leather trim.
This Oldsmobile 2-door sedan made its show debut in 2022 at the St. Michaels Concours d'Elegance in Easton, Md.
