1935 Lincoln Model K Convertible Roadster

The Model K was introduced in 1931 as a replacement for the Model K and rested on a new 145-inch wheelbase chassis and powered by a 385 cubic-inch version of the Model L's V-8 engine modified with a 2-barrel Stromberg carburetor, higher compression and other tweaks to produce 120 HP. In 1932, Edsel Ford split the K into two ranges - the V-8 powered KA built on a 136-inch wheelbase, and the KB resting on a 145-inch wheelbase platform and equipped with an all-new 448 CID V-12 engine. By 1934, the choice of engines had been cut to a single 414 CI version of the V-12, and in 1935, the A and B designations were dropped and significant design changes were introduced. To improve weight distribution, the passenger compartment was moved forward 11 inches. The engine's operation became quieter thanks to five rubber engine mounts, needle-bearing roller tappets, and an improved cam design. New synchros on the 3-speed manual transmission made shifting easier.

A total of 30 examples of the Lincoln Model K V-12 Roadster were built in 1935 wearing LeBaron coachwork. This example is a CCCA Full Classic and a winner of an AACA National First prize in 1977. It has been cosmetically refreshed and finished in a maroon color scheme. It is a special-order Model 542 LeBaron rumble-seat roadster riding on 17-inch wire wheels and wrapped with wide whitewall tires. There are dual side mounts with steel covers, a side-louvered hood, Greyhound radiator mascot, Guide Super Ray fog lamps, and a rear luggage rack. The interior is done with tan leather upholstery and there is a two-gauge instrument cluster, dual mirrors, a locking glovebox and rear-seat foot rest.

Years after it achieved its AACA provenance, the car was subsequently re-restored.
