1959 Chrysler 300E Navigation
The Chrysler 300 'letter series' was built in five main generations spanning eleven models from 1955 to 1965, with all but the final model being designed under the direction of Virgil Exner.
The 1959 Chrysler 300E had Avant-grade styling with towering tailfins, angled '300' badges at the front of the hood, and red, white, and blue side emblems. Deluxe interior features include 'Auto-Pilot' cruise control, air conditioning, and swiveling front seats. Power was sourced from a 413 cubic-inch 'Golden Lion' wedge-head V8 engine with dual four-barrel carburetors delivering 380 horsepower and paired with a three-speed TorqueFlite pushbutton automatic transmission.
This particular example was given a 'body-on' restoration in 2014 where its bodywork was stripped to bare metal and refinished with a new coat of Ivory White paint and the interior is done in saddle tan. Chrysler built a mere 140 examples of the 300E convertible in 1959 at a base price of $5,749 and it is believed that just 27 examples have survived in modern times.By Daniel Vaughan | Oct 2022
