1984 Ferrari 512 BBi Coupe

The Ferrari 512 BB was introduced at the 1976 Paris Auto Salon wearing angular lines, a sharp nose, a rearward sloping roofline and a truncated tail. Its 'BB' Berlinetta Boxer name referenced its flat-12 engine.

The 1981 Frankfurt International Motor Show witnessed the arrival of the 512 BBi with the 'i' in its name, implying the key change from carburetion to Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. A total of 1,007 examples were built from 1981 to 1984, with chassis numbers ranging from 38121 through 52935. It is believed that 144 examples were built during the final production year.

This particular example, chassis 49473, left the factory wearing the traditional Rosso Corsa exterior over a Pelle Beige leather interior. It was shipped from Maranello in January of 1984, and Garage Francorchamps S.A. in Belgium handled delivery, but the car was swiftly imported into the United States for use by its first owner, William Lyon of Mobile, Alabama.

Mr. Lyon sold the Ferrari six years later to Edward Wettach of Jackson, Mississippi. By 2000, it had accumulated 1,179 pampered miles and completed a major service at Ferrari of Atlanta. In 2006, it entered the care of Ferrari collector and concours judge David Eichenbaum. During this period, it was shown extensively, earning accolades that included a first-in-class win at the Cavallino Classic, along with multiple platinum awards from the Celebration Exotic Car Festival in Celebration, Florida.

The current owner purchased the Ferrari in 2015 and had it promptly submitted for Ferrari's Classiche Certification program (which it passed with flying colors). More recently, the car was given a major engine-out service, including timing belt replacement; the work was completed in July 2023.

This Ferrari 512 BBi currently has 8,112 kilometers on its odometer.
