1959 Peerless GT Navigation
Founded by Jimmy Byrnes and Bernie Rogers, Peerless Cars of Slough, England sought to create a car that reflected their taste in racing cars rather than 'off-the-shelf' rides. With help from the board at Triumph, the new Peerless GT was built around the Triumph TR3 platform wrapped in an angular yet innovative fiberglass/composite body. Production ran from 1957 to 1960. The Gran Turismo model featured a tubular space frame with de Dion rear suspension and fiberglass bodywork.
The factory entered a works car into the 1958 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing first in class and 16th overall raced by Peter Jopp and Percy Crabb. As production expenses mounted, only 325 GTs were produced. Approximately only 40 survive.
