1962 Aston Martin DB4 Navigation
The Special Series engine arrived in September 1961, and the following month, the first convertible DB4 was introduced. Power increased by ten percent with the SS engine, from 240 bhp to 266 bhp, thanks to higher compression, a third SU carburetor, and larger valves. The convertible body style was offered for the final two years of production with just 70 dropheads out of the over 1,200 DBs built. Thirty dropheads were Series IVs, of which eleven were fitted with the SS engine.
This particular Aston Martin DB4 Series IV Special Series (SS) convertible was delivered new on June 16, 1962, to an individual from London and originally wore a California Sage (silver green) exterior with a red interior. Along with the Special Series engine, this car was optioned with an overdrive and auxiliary oil cooler.
The car entered long-term ownership around 1983 and was relocated to Cambridge, Massachusetts. During this time, the car was given a 10-year restoration, which was completed in the mid-1990s.By Daniel Vaughan | Mar 2023
