1965 Ferrari 275 GTB Navigation
This Ferrari 275 GTB is powered by a 3,285cc Tipo 213 SOHC V-12 engine breathing through a trio of Weber 40 DCZ6 carburetors and delivering 280 horsepower at 7,600 RPM. There is a five-speed manual transaxle with Limited-Slip Differential, four-wheel Vacuum-assisted Dunlop Disc brakes, and an independent suspension system with wishbones and coil-over shock absorbers. The car was completed in July of 1965 and wore Rosso Rubino (Ruby Red) over beige leather upholstery. It rode on Campagnolo starburst wheels and had electric windows. In August, the car was sold via official dealer Vecar S.a.s. to its first owner, Paolo Mariani of Rome. It was then sold through Sport Auto Roma S.r.l. in September of 167 to Marco Magdalone of Cosenza, Italy, who soon sold it a year later to Francesco Saverio Corbi of Rome.
Sergio Ferrero purchased 07629 in May 1968, and during his ownership, it was featured in a poliziotteschi film named Un detective (1969), directed by Romolo Guerrieri starring Franco Nero. By this point, the car wore a yellow paint scheme and had been fitted with a chrome grille guard.
It was sold in 1970 to Ines Kummernuss and remained in Italy until 1977 when it was exported to the United States. Its first known American was Lyle Tanner of California who offered it for sale in 1984, with its advertisement stating it had 98,000 km on its odometer.
Kenji Sasamoto of Tokyo purchased the Ferrari in 1987 and commissioned Mike Sheehan to restore it in its current red over a black color scheme. After the restoration was completed, the Ferrari received prizes at the 1993 Vintage Ferrari Concours in Carmel, California, and the 1995 Forza Ferrari Concours at Suzuka in Japan. In 2004, it participated in Ferrari's official 275 Tour, held in Italy to celebrate the model's 40th anniversary.
Chuck Spielman of Sorrento Valley, California, purchased the car in 2008, sold it at auction in 2010, and into the current owner's care sometime before 2023 - when it returned to auction and into new ownership.By Daniel Vaughan | Apr 2023
