1985 Ferrari 288 GTO Navigation
This Ferrari 288 GTO Coup left the factory on May 3rd, 1985, and wore Rosso Corsa with black leather upholstery, and its 'Daytona'-style seats featured optional red cloth inserts. This U.S.-destined example was fitted with air-conditioning and power windows but without a radio. Upon arriving in the United States and after the federalization process, the Ferrari was sent to Illinois and to the supplying dealer, Lake Forest Sportscars. (During the federalization, the speedometer face was converted to display in miles, however, the odometer calibration remained in kilometers.) Donald Schaff of Florida was the car's first owner and took delivery of his new car on June 10th, 1985. By August 1991, this Ferrari was offered for sale by Walnut Creek Ferrari in California, where the odometer reading was noted as 3,388 km. By April 1993, the car was sold to Cavallino Imports of Dixie Hills, New York before entering the car of its third owner, Mr. Dennis Farrey of Dani Investments in San Carlos, California, sometime in 1996.
On April 8th, 2000, the Ferrari was offered for sale in the Ferrari Market Letter, stating the odometer reading was 4,517 km. The car was subsequently sold to the fourth owner in 2001. A major service was completed on July 31, 2020, with over $18,000 spent at Continental Auto Sports in Hinsdale, Illinois. At the point of service, the car had 7,815 km on its odometer.
More recently, additional service was performed on January 31, 2022, which included an oil and brake fluid change and replacement of the oil pressure gauge sensor.
This Ferrari has earned its Ferrari Classiche certification, confirming it to be a full matching-numbers example. During the Classiche Certification process, a speedometer unit with the correct kilometer-indicating face was sourced and fitted. Currently, this Ferrari has 7,989 km (4,965 miles) on the odometer.By Daniel Vaughan | Apr 2023
