1951 Packard Series 250 Convertible

    1951 Packard Series 250 Navigation
The 250, Packard's 24th Series, was built from 1951 to 1952. The 327 cubic-inch inline eight-cylinder engine delivered 150 horsepower and the convertible had a base price of $3,391. Amenities included power steering, brakes, windows, top, and antenna.

The current owner's parents owned a different 1951 Packard convertible throughout their courtship, marriage, and through the first thirteen years of the owner's life. This car was acquired in 1996 in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, in time for the owner's parents' 50th wedding anniversary. The family had searched for a 1951 Packard convertible for years and found this one, which had been owned by its second owner for 27 years. After acquiring this car and beginning the restoration, another 1951 Packard convertible surfaced in the same aqua color as the owner's dad's original, with identical options. It was also purchased, and at that time, the father said he had really wanted maroon, but his wife was afraid of fading. It was decided then that this car would be Matador Maroon. The car features Packard's two-speed Ultramatic transmission and cost $3,400 new.
