1951 DeSoto Custom Convertible Coupe

This 1951 DeSoto was purchased by Albert McQuain in San Antonio, Texas, from Chapa Motors, a used car lot near the Air Force Base where he was stationed. During his time in service, Albert drove this car from San Antonio to Weston, WV, to visit his family. After Albert was honorably discharged, this car was driven daily and was not thought of as a collector's item.

In 2011, Albert and his wife gifted the car to their nephew, Tim Holbert of Bridgeport, WV. The car had been covered with plastic and stored outside, which caused severe deterioration of the body and the upholstery. To restore this car back as close to the original as possible, it was disassembled and each nut, bolt, and screw was wire brushed before being primed, painted and readied for reuse. Every inch of the car was refurbished to new.
