    1916 Stutz Bearcat Navigation
Mention the word Stutz, and one immediately associates the name with the legendary Bearcat. Rare is that a car or manufacturer could so indelibly linked to one model. The first Stutz in 1911, nor the last in 1935, was a Bearcat however; Harry Clayton Stutz's marque built in Indianapolis, Indiana, will always be known for building performance-driven automobiles. While cars began rolling off the assembly line in August 1911, the famous Bearcat debuted in 1912 starting at $2,000. It featured two bucket seats, no exterior doors, and an enormous bolster fuel tank behind which sat a toolbox and two spare tires. Optional were wire or artillery wheels. The top speed was a heady 72 mph. It was a brute of an automobile, and despite the sexist connotations today, it had to be manhandled as much as driven.

The car that made good in a day.
