1969 Aston Martin DBS Fastback Coupe

The Aston Martin DBS was introduced in 1967 and served as a successor to the DB6. The sensational styling was created in-house by William 'Bill' Towns, with a wider and lower profile than its predecessor, a more aggressive persona, and more interior cabin space. The engine was positioned farther back in the chassis, behind the front axle, and a near 50/50 weight ratio. The suspension was independent, and braking was via discs.

This Aston Martin was fitted with air conditioning, rear lap belts, dual headrests, power steering, Fiam horns, a Bosch New Yorker radio, and a ZF 5-speed manual transmission. Completed in the spring of 1969, the car wore a Pale Primrose exterior over Red Connolly hides.

This DBS spent its earlier existence in the United States and may have been exported to Germany during the mid-1990s. The current owner acquired the car around 2001, and it has been on static display since its purchase.

The engine powering this Aston Martin began life in a DB5 (DB5/2266/L), which was delivered new to Florida. The 3,996cc DOHC inline six-cylinder unit had triple SU carburetors and produced 282 horsepower at 5,500 RPM.
