1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Turbo Slant Nose

The original 'Project 930' (911 Turbo) was built to homologate the car for Group 4 competition. Introduced in October of 1974, the reworked 3.0-liter engine was fitted with a KKK turbocharger and in road-going guise, offered 260 horsepower and a top speed of 153 mph. Styling elements included flared wheel arches, a 'tea tray' rear spoiler sourced from the Carrera model, and a luxurious interior. In 1978, engine displacement grew to 3.3 liters, and it gained an inter-cooler in the process. Output was now rated at 300 horsepower, although the detuned U.S. version was lower at 265 horsepower.

The 'slant' or 'flat' nose design was first used on the racing 935, and due to high demand from consumers, it soon made its way to the 911 Turbo. Kremer Racing offered a conversion service that was later taken up by the factory's own Customer Department for special order (Sunderwunschen) in 1981. It became an official Porsche option in 1986.

Using inspiration from the 935 race car, the 930 body modifications included side skirts that led to the rear, with extra cooling intakes ahead of the rear wheels, converted front wings, cooling vents, and pop-up headlamps. The interior was given leather, air conditioning, and special electrically adjustable and heated Recaro seats. Due to the high cost, production was low.

This Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet Slant Nose has been with its current owner since 2006. It was delivered new on January 15, 1988, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to an authorized Porsche dealer. It wore a Grand Prix White exterior over a Linen leather interior with blue carpets and Marine blue accents on the seat piping as well as the dash. The convertible soft top was finished in Dark Blue. Optional equipment included the $28,422 Slant Nose option, a limited-slip differential, an electronic cabriolet top, left and right supple leather seats, a raised hub steering wheel, Blaupunkt 'Reno' radio, an alarm system, a velour luggage compartment and color-matched forged alloy wheels in Grand Prix white.

This Slant Nose Porsche was completed at the factory in October 1987 and first registered in Kansas on February 12, 1988. It currently has fewer than 35,300 miles on its odometer.
