    1900 Locomobile Steam Navigation
The Stanley brothers were approached by John Brisben Walker, publisher of Cosmopolitan magazine, with an offer to sell their business. The Stanley brothers requested - and got - the then-huge sum of $250,000. Walker's financial backing was courtesy of Amzi Lorenzo Barber, the asphalt king. The new company was dubbed Locomobile, but the two partners soon quarreled and parted ways. Barber continued to operate the Locomobile business and product line, moving it to Westborough, Massachusetts.

This 1900 Locomobile Style 03 with a Victoria Top Runabout body had a base price of $900 when new. Power is from a two-cylinder engine with a 14-inch, 21-gallon boiler. It has 3.5 horsepower, a 58-inch wheelbase, and transverse elliptical leaf spring suspension at the front with twin full elliptical springs at the rear.
