1903 Knox Model C Navigation
These cars were known as the Knox Waterless, or more familiarly as the 'Old Porcupine,' from the fact that air cooling was by means of 2-inch pins screwed to cylinder jackets instead of the more common pins. The company slogan was 'The car that never drinks.'
The Knox Model C Runabout had a base price of $1,200 when new. It had a 72-inch wheelbase, and its one-cylinder air-cooled engine produced eight horsepower and was paired to a planetary transmission. The suspension was longitudinal leaf springs, and the brakes were mechanical on the transmission.
