1957 Lancia Appia Navigation
This Zagato-bodied GT Berlinetta is endowed with several aircraft-inspired styling elements, including the nacelle-shaped front wings, jet-fighter-like central air intake, and fins (pinnute) atop the rear wings. Zagato received the chassis in 1957 and is one of only ten bodied with this design. Additional styling features include the famous 'double bubble' roof and covered headlights. Racing options include the long-range fuel tank, a speedometer reading of 180km/h (111mph), and a Jaeger rev counter on the dashboard.
The current owners purchased this Lancia in 2014. It was given a documented five-year restoration carried out by Zagato specialist Vincenzo Malerba (Mavi Cars) in Milan, Italy.
This Lania is powered by a 1,089cc overhead valve V-4 engine with a single Solex carburetor and delivers 53 horsepower at 5,200 RPM. There is a four-speed manual transmission, four-wheel drum brakes, a live rear axle, and an independent front suspension.By Daniel Vaughan | Nov 2023
