1964 Volkswagen Microbus 21-Window Deluxe Wagon

Volkswagen produced the Type 2 (VW Bus) from 1950 to 2013. Initially built as a panel van, it evolved over the years into various configurations, including a minibus and a pickup truck. Among the Type 2's memorable features were the rear-mounted air-cooled engine, boxy body shape, and split front windshield.

This 1964 Volkswagen Deluxe Bus is powered by a 1,584cc overhead valve, air-cooled single port flat-4 cylinder engine fed by a single Solex carburetor, and delivering 50 horsepower at 3,000 RPM. The car's original 1,500cc engine was replaced with this more powerful 1,600cc unit.

Volkswagen produced this bus in March of 1964, and, upon completion, was sent to the port of Boston, Massachusetts. The current caretaker purchased the bus in 2015 and treated it to a complete nut and bolt restoration that cost over $100,000.

Fitted with the Deluxe Package option, this 21-window Deluxe bus has cosmetic and functional upgrades such as a chrome grille, plush upholstery, convenient storage spaces, seat belts for all passengers, and an upgraded sound system with speakers. There are split windows with two front windows that open, six side windows that open, multiple bench seats, and two individual walk-through front seats.
