This 1967 Volkswagen Deluxe Samba Type 2 T1 Microbus 'Double Slider' was built during its final model year. It has a 21-window design, a two-tone paint scheme, deluxe trim, and 12-volt electrics. It was built with several of the rarest combinations of factory options, including double-sliding side doors, a walk-through front-seat configuration, and safari-style hinged windscreens.
A three-year restoration of this Microbus was completed in 2013 and refinished in its original Sea Blue and Cumulus White. The interior was restored with Aero Papyrus and Steel vinyl upholstery with matching door panels and black, rubber-lined floors. There is an analog clock, push-button radio, and speedometer in the painted steel dashboard. The Focal speakers and auxiliary radio adapter are thoughtful upgrades, as is the cabin air-vent system. The period-correct engine has been rebuilt and displaces 1,493cc. The overhead valve, air-cooled, horizontally opposed four-cylinder unit has a single Solex downdraft carburetor and delivers 44 horsepower at 4,000 RPM.
